We knew once we got back to Idaho we wanted to have real Christmas trees. We love the smell and we wanted to have a tradition with our kids to go to the mountains and get one. The first two years back in Idaho we moved right at Christmas time so we just set up our artificial tree but this year I was ready to start this tradition. We were originally going to be in Burley so we thought we would just go with my brother Ty and his family to get a tree. They knew where to go and find good ones and we had no idea where to go. We opted out of going to Burley that weekend so we adventured off in our neck of the woods. We first attempted by our ski resort here. No luck just a bunch of charlie brown trees. Really sad sad Charlie Brown trees actually. So we headed down that mountain. We had been in the truck for an hour now and the kids were getting anxious. Jaman said do you just want to go home and try another day. I was like no way we are all bundled up we will find a tree today so the hunt went on. We started towards Swan Valley. Sure enough we found lots of areas. After being in the truck for an hour and a half I started to wonder if this was worth it. At least now we know where to go and this area should only take us about 30 minutes to get there. After the kids got out of the truck they were so excited. They had so much fun hiking to find the tree, playing in the snow, and sliding down the hill. After seeing how much fun we actually did have...a definate yes new family tradition. It was great being out in our beautiful moutains.
We needed a tree that was about 8 feet tall. I spotted this one and knew it was taller than that but the bottom half was all bare. So we actually cut the tree off about where Jaman's head was and it has been perfect. I was scared to have a real tree because they are not always perfect in shape but it is fun to look at the tree everyday and remember our fun memories we had and laugh about any frustration.
